Leadership: Why Higher Purpose is the Best CYA

There you are, leaning into the microphone, right hand on the podium, while your left hand plays multiple games of chess behind the curtain.

News Flash - Cliff ahead!

It's easy to get addicted to strategy and sucked into political gamesmanship. Maneuvering and manipulating our way towards an outcome rarely turns out as planned. It's like crack to the ego. First you get high on omnipotence then you crash to earth. Humbled at best. Neutered at worst.

There is a better way. Clarity about our highest purpose in business and in life shines light on goals worth attaining, magnetizes us to the best path forward and attracts those who will help clear the way.

If you find yourself resorting to tactics and maneuvers, take a pause and get your head out of the weeds. Ask better questions. What is the most important outcome? What values matter along the way? What action best aligns with your highest self? Find the high ground. Step up. Then elevate your team and share the view from the top.
